The First Time I Laid Eyes On You

I can't remember the reason I decided to go that day

  it was cold, wet and windy outside

I recall that much

I hesitated..briefly

I knew, oh I knew well

It was time to let go of the memories of another

  that I treasured

 

I would never have imagined

  our pathways would cross

Just a few hours later..that very afternoon

 

The moment I first glanced your way

I was breathless

Your soft feminine look

 beckoned for me to bridge the

 distance between us

My eyes were captive

 at your beauty...

 I was overwhelmed

 

I remember that first touch of your neckline

 caressing your back

 as if it was only yesterday

 standing in front of you

 in that place

Impulsively I placed my arms into yours

Our first embrace

Heavenly...  

I knew you wanted to leave

 there, with me

It was too late

I was hopelessly in love

 

 

Our first night together

holding you close to my body

Rapturous

Eventually, drifting off to sleep

 

The next morning

 as we shared breakfast together

Sipping our tea

Love consumed me

 

Our first walk

In the garden outside

Brrr..it was chilly

It was snowing...wasn't it?

Oh yes..now I remember

snowflakes falling over us 

we snuggled close

in each other's arms

 

Many winter nights we've shared

 wrapped in each other’s arms

 those moments in front of the

 fireplace..

The ambience of candlelight burning

 just you and, alone

 

Oh please...don't remind me

 of that particular night

I still find it difficult to forget

I was so embarrassed

Spilling red wine

 down the front of you

A wonderful dinner party though

 ...wasn't it?

I thought so...

Yes...I know, I know

I had way too many drinks that night

 entirely my own fault...

 

Oh look...really, I was devastated

'Look what I've done' I gasped

I was so angry with myself

Really....I was

...how could I

 do that to you

Will you forgive me...?

Oh come on....I never meant to laugh

Yes, ok...it was really very serious

 though all is forgotten now...right?

 well we managed to remove the wine

 stains

Eventually....

 

Ok...Ok

It really was quite clumsy of me

 look, I shuddered for days

 at my careless complacency

I know, I know...your right

 yes...very irresponsible of me

 though

 the next morning

 I remember, as I glanced over at you

 the early morning light

 fell softly upon your radiance

 ...you looked

 soooo beautiful,

 like nothing at all happened

 the night before

 

Yes..I do remember saying

 at the time

 'I'll be careful from now on'

 I promised...

 Oh I've come to cherish you

 so much...

 What's that...?

 Oh I won't ever allow that

 to happen again

 

Your precious to me

I want you to understand

this

..you've made all the

 difference to my life

 

Ok my lovely one

 its time I had a shower

Or I'll be late for the office

Yes, yes...I'll be home early

Oh ok...ok....lunchtime, I'll pop in

 I promise...

 look forward to it,

 

Yes...you are really so elegant

Exquisite...

 you are, you really are                           

 beautiful

 the loveliest

 dressing gown

 a girl could ever own...
